Kopachuck State Park

Kopachuck State Park is a 109-acre marine park located on Henderson Bay in Gig Harbor, Washington. The park features over a mile of saltwater shoreline, offering sweeping views of sunsets, Puget Sound, and the Olympic Mountains. Following an extensive renovation completed in August 2025, the park operates as a day-use facility year-round, focusing on beach and shoreline access and providing comprehensive accessibility.

Visitors can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities. The park's two miles of easy hiking trails wind through bigleaf maple and cedar forests, accessible year-round with minimal elevation gain. The beach is popular for swimming during warmer months, kayaking, paddleboarding, and snorkeling in the underwater park. At low tide, the normally steep rocky shoreline transforms into a level sandbar, ideal for beachcombing and exploration.

Hand-carried watercraft like kayaks and canoes can be launched from the beach. Cutts Island, also known as "Deadman's Island," lies about a half-mile offshore and is accessible by boat from the park. The park provides facilities including a welcome center, an event facility, an amphitheater, and a playground. Parking areas have been improved and expanded, with accessible routes connecting the day-use area to the beach trails.

Kopachuck State Park is open from 8:00 a.m. until dusk year-round. A Discover Pass or a daily parking permit is required for vehicle access. Fishing for species like salmon, flounder, and perch, along with crabbing, are popular activities, though shellfishing is currently closed for the 2026 season.
