Sehmel Homestead Park

Sehmel Homestead Park is a spacious 98-acre park located in Gig Harbor, Washington. The property blends natural areas, including 76 acres of meadows, wetlands, a naturalistic pond, and forest conservancy, with 22 acres dedicated to active recreation. The park's four miles of trails wind through these diverse landscapes, providing opportunities for walking and exploring the outdoors.

A prominent feature for families is the Boundless Playground, designed to offer recreation for children of all abilities. This playground includes features like structured swings, wheelchair ramps, and a multi-seat sensory glider. Beyond the playground, active visitors can utilize several sports fields for soccer, baseball, softball, and lacrosse, as well as tennis and basketball courts.

Additional amenities at Sehmel Homestead Park include picnic areas, a picnic shelter, and an outdoor amphitheater that hosts summer concerts and events. The Volunteer Vern Pavilion provides an indoor space. Seasonal concessions, restrooms, and drinking fountains are also available. The park also features a heritage garden and a master gardener demonstration garden. All PenMet Parks, including Sehmel Homestead Park, are open daily from 7 a.m. to dusk.
