Harbor History Museum

The Harbor History Museum provides opportunities to experience the heritage of the greater Gig Harbor communities. Its mission is to collect, preserve, and share the rich history of this area. Located directly on the Gig Harbor waterfront in Washington State, the museum generally offers free admission to visitors.

The museum features a 3,500 square foot Maritime Gallery, showcasing exhibits on boat building, commercial fishing, and recreational boating. Key attractions include Thunderbird Hull #1 and the 65-foot wooden purse seiner *Shenandoah*, which is currently undergoing restoration. On its grounds, the museum also hosts the Midway Schoolhouse, a one-room schoolhouse built in 1893 that was moved to the site in 2009.

The museum presents a journey through the area's history, maritime achievements, and local traditions through its engaging exhibits. It aims to provide a gathering place and a sense of identity for the community by connecting visitors with the stories of Gig Harbor.
