Gig Harbor Public Works Department

The Gig Harbor Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance and improvements to the city's public infrastructure, serving a population of over 9,500 residents. The department includes several divisions, such as Engineering, Operations, Parks, Wastewater, and Utility Billing.

The Engineering Division manages city infrastructure improvements, reviews public development projects, and conducts various city-wide studies to implement infrastructure upgrades. They handle the design and construction management of capital improvement projects for transportation, water, sewer, stormwater, and park improvements.

The Operations Division maintains city infrastructure like roads, storm drains, parks, water systems, and city-owned facilities and fleet equipment. The Wastewater Division operates the city's wastewater treatment plant, serving approximately 6800 Gig Harbor residents, and maintains 45 miles of sanitary sewer lines and 18 lift stations.

Public Works also manages permits related to grading on private property, civil construction, and activities in the public right-of-way. They handle utility billing for water, sewer, and stormwater services. The department's offices are open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
